Round 1 - SFG(6) needs 5 games to hold off COL(11)

GAME 1 - AT&T Park
De La Rosa vs Bumgarner
Giants 7, Rox 4

7 shutout innings of Madbum were just too much for the Rox to overcome.  Up 7-0 after 7 the Jints decided to rest their ace just in case they would need him for game 5.  Colorado victimized the back of San Fran's pen for 4 ninth inning runs to make the game look close on paper.  Kelby Tomlinson had 3 RBI's for the victors.
Giants lead series 1-0

GAME 2
Rusin vs Heston
Giants 5, Rox 0

Not to be outdone by his rotation mate, Chris Heston fired 10 k's in 7 innings before letting the pen do their thing.  Tonight San Fran's pen was impeccable with 2 perfect innings as all 4 Giant hurlers held the Rox to just 2 hits.  Joe Panik knocked in 2 as the Jints maximize their 6 hits with 5 runs.
Giants lead series 2-0

GAME 3 - Coors Field
Peavy vs Kendrick
Broncos 15, 49ers 11

How a change of scenery can change the complexion of series.  By going from the cavernous AT&T Park to the shooting gallery called Coors Field the runs were aplenty.  Colorado, with their back up against the wall, scored at least one run in each of the first 7 innings.  The Jints actually started out with a 3-0 lead, but that didn't even last out the first inning as the Rox evened it up.  Nolan Arenado (4-5) hit 3 bombs and knocked in 6 runs to pace the offense.  Colorado needed 8 pitchers to hold off the Giants to force a game 4.
Giants lead series 2-1

GAME 4
Hudson vs Bettis
Rox 4, Giants 1

The Rox finally got a well pitched game from one of their starters.  Chad Bettis went 7 innings and gave up just 1 run, which is like throwing a perfect game in any other ballpark.  San Fran broke a scoreless tie in the top of the 4th when Blanco scored on a Crawford sac fly with the bases loaded.  The Giants failed to score again and the Rox capitalized in the bottom of the inning with a 3 run shot by none other than Arenado himself.  A solo shot by Nick Hundley in the 7th provided the final tally as the Rox evened the series to force a decisive game 5 in San Fran.
Series Tied 2-2

GAME 5
De La Rosa vs Bumgarner
Giants 8, Rox 0

After winning games one and two at home the Giants deluded themselves into thinking that this was going to be a cakewalk.  That was not to be the case as manager Randy Casebier and his Rox had a lot of fight left in them.  Giant fans were quite apprehensive about having to play a game 5, but they had confidence in the fact that Madbum would be on the hill.  You see the man from Hickory, NC is flat out money in the post season.  In 12 post season starts he's a 7-3 with a 2.14 ERA.  He also has the hardware to go along with that record (3 championship rings and 2 series MVP's).  Guys like Madbum don't disappoint in big games, so when you read here that he went the distance and struck out 10 and gave up just 2 hits, you won't be the least bit shocked.  The poor Rox didn't know what hit them.  After the Giants jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first via a clutch two out RBI single from Belt and a double by Pence it was all but over.  After San Fran added 5 more unanswered runs the only question was "Would Madbum get to finish the game".  Answer:  "Heck yeah" !  No way he was giving up the ball.  He could care less that he needed 129 pitches to do it.  Post season legends don't worry about pitch counts.  They count rings.
Giants win series 3-2
