Round 1 - Angels (6) beat Bosox (11) in 4

Game 1 - Angel Stadium

A tight affair that set the tone for the entire series. Starters Richards and Buchholz both went 6 innings and gave up 2 runs. And both were long showered and dressed before this one was through.  A Bogaerts 2-out single tied the game at 2 in the top of the 7th inning. Then for the next 6 innings a combined 12 pitchers threw up nothing but goose eggs.  Finally, with 2 outs in the bottom of the 13th, Erick Aybar doubled in Daniel Robertson with the walk-off win.  Cory Rasmus was credited with the win, Justin Masterson took the loss.

Game 2 - Angel Stadium

Boston took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the 6th innings, helped by a Mike "Angel Killer" Napoli solo HR off Hector Santiago. Red Sox starter Joe Kelly seemed totally in control, striking out the first two batters of the inning.  But then Mike Trout worked a walk, and Albert Pujols tied the game with a 2-run HR. The bullpens kept it knotted at 2 until the bottom of the 9th. Erick Aybar's perfectly executed hit-and-run put Angels on the corners with 1 out.  Johnny Giavotella then hit a sacrifice fly to score Chris Iannetta with the winning run.  Jose Alverez got the win for LAA; Brian Johnson suffered the loss.

Game 3- Fenway Park

Red Sox return home with a vengeance, scoring 6 in the 3rd and 2 in the 4th to end LAA starter CJ Wilson night early. Boston banged out 16 hits, including HRs by Ramirez, Shaw, Betts and Rutledge.  Mookie Betts and Xander Bogaerts each had 4 hits.  Mike Trout homered for the Angels in a losing cause, as the home team won this one going away 15-6.  Wade Miley picked up the win, and Wilson the loss.

Game 4 - Fenway Park

Starters Eduardo Rodriguez and Andrew Heaney brought their "A" game, matching each other pitch for pitch, and putting up nothing but zeros inning after inning. With 2 outs in the top of the 8th and the game still scoreless, Rodriguez finally ran out of gas, and left the game with a runner on 1st base. Alexi Ogando came on to face Mike Trout, and the AL MVP-runner up did not fail to show why HE should have been MVP, sending one over the Green Monster to give the Angels a 2-0 lead. The LAA bullpen kept the Red Sox off the board the rest of the way, with Joe Smith getting the win and Houston Street the save.

LAA wins the  series 3 games to 1.
